Advancing Global Careers: Private Mentorship on Ausbildung Documentation Led by UINSSC International Office Director

Cirebon, July 2 2025 — After receiving strategic feedback from Zaenal Mutaqin of the Language Development Center (Pusat Pengembangan Bahasa/PBB), the ongoing preparation of the Ausbildung technical guideline (juknis)—drafted by Global Engagement Team (GET) members Mitsni Uswatun Hasanah and Bustanul Arifin—entered a more focused refinement phase. Recognizing the importance of precision and coherence in such institutional documents, Lala Bumela, Ph.D., Director of the International Office at UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon, personally conducted a one-on-one mentorship session to elevate the document to international standards. “Drafting a juknis is not merely an administrative act,” Lala stated during the session, “it’s a strategic effort to ensure alignment between policy, practice, and cross-border cooperation.”

The mentorship served not only as a technical review but also as a platform to instill higher-order thinking skills. Lala emphasized the need for clarity in language, the consistency of terminologies, and the importance of context-driven structuring in creating guidelines that are both readable and operationally effective across institutions. He guided the trainees through detailed aspects of document formatting, bureaucratic sequencing, and regulatory compliance, aiming to ensure that the final product can serve as a replicable model for future international collaborations.

For Mitsni and Bustanul, the experience was transformative. Converting abstract policy frameworks into precise textual formats required not just language proficiency but institutional literacy. “I’ve come to understand that a juknis must be both technically sound and culturally sensitive,” Mitsni reflected. “This task has sharpened my ability to think both as a writer and as a systems designer.” The students revised their work with heightened attention to the logic of documentation, particularly the articulation of processes, roles, and timelines that must align with both Indonesian academic procedures and the expectations of German partners involved in the Ausbildung initiative.

Zaenal Mutaqin’s earlier input had played a catalytic role in setting the revision framework. His remarks during the previous session helped contextualize the language and format choices necessary for official standards. The collaboration with PPB was not only about linguistic accuracy but also about legal and procedural alignment, ensuring that every section of the document could withstand scrutiny from institutional partners, both domestically and abroad. His prior presence signified the inter-unit synergy needed to bring such cross-border projects to maturity.

Throughout the mentorship, Lala Bumela, Ph.D. reinforced a key institutional philosophy: empowering students through embedded learning in real-world administrative ecosystems. Rather than isolating bureaucratic tasks from academic learning, the International Office cultivates students’ abilities by involving them directly in documentation processes tied to global mobility and career development. This embedded training ensures that GET members do not simply assist but actively shape UIN SSC’s international trajectory through their writing, planning, and execution skills.

As the session concluded, Lala reaffirmed the strategic role of documentation in the broader vision of the university’s internationalization. “This work signals a new academic generation capable of translating institutional needs into globally resonant documentation.” he noted. “This mentorship marks another step toward a campus culture where administrative clarity and academic integrity go hand in hand.” The juknis draft continues to evolve, representing not only a guideline for Ausbildung but also a testament to the university’s growing investment in student-led global competence.
