Advancing Student Protection Standards: The International Office of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon Implements a Structured Health Insurance Literacy Program for International Students in Collaboration with AIA Insurance

Cirebon, November 24, 2025 – The International Office of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon held a pivotal coordination meeting with AIA Insurance representatives to finalize preparations for the upcoming Health Protection and Risk Awareness: Health Insurance Socialization for International and Internship Students workshop. The session was attended by Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D. (Director of the International Office), Ivo Dinasta Yanuar, M.Appling (Secretary), Ghina Amaliyah Sholihah, S.Sos (staff), and AIA Insurance delegates Pak Nuh Prabawa Laurens, Sri Puji Lestari, Myrna Aggraini, Akromah, and Adrianto. This meeting solidified AIA’s role as the designated insurance provider for the Syekh Nurjati Global Excellence Scholarship (SN-GES) program beneficiaries, covering 19 international students from the Philippines, Thailand, Nigeria, Senegal, and Yemen across both 2024 and 2025 cohorts.

Discussions centered on tailoring the November 27 workshop content to address students’ specific needs while clarifying policy activation timelines and claim procedures. The collaboration underscores UIN SSC’s commitment to institutionalizing comprehensive welfare systems for its global community. This partnership exemplifies the university’s proactive approach to international student care beyond academic programming. The International Office secured concrete commitments for multilingual materials and dedicated follow-up sessions.

The November 27 workshop will feature AIA Insurance professionals delivering comprehensive briefings on health insurance coverage, benefit structures, and claim protocols specifically designed for international students. Key topics include inpatient care provisions, medication reimbursement policies, and critical exclusions related to pre-existing conditions. Participants will receive detailed guidance on documentation requirements and procedural timelines to prevent claim denials during medical emergencies. The session will clarify the policy’s active period from October 6, 2025, to October 5, 2026, and eligibility criteria for students aged 17–59. AIA representatives will address common misconceptions about insurance coverage in cross-cultural contexts through practical case studies. This knowledge transfer aims to transform students from passive policyholders into informed healthcare navigators within Indonesia’s medical ecosystem. The workshop design prioritizes interactive learning over theoretical lectures to ensure tangible skill acquisition.

The workshop creates a rare platform for direct dialogue between students and insurance providers, reducing bureaucratic barriers to care. International Office staff will document procedural pain points to refine future welfare initiatives. This holistic approach recognizes that student safety requires seamless institutional collaboration rather than isolated departmental efforts. The session embodies UINSSC’s commitment to operational transparency in international student management.

A core objective is establishing sustainable risk-awareness protocols that extend beyond the workshop’s single-day format. The AIA Insurance develop digital resource hubs containing claim templates, hospital directories, and emergency contact networks. Follow-up mentoring sessions will pair new students with returning scholars experienced in navigating Indonesia’s healthcare system. Institutional stakeholders will implement standardized reporting mechanisms to track claim resolution times and student satisfaction metrics. The partnership includes quarterly review meetings to adjust coverage based on emerging health challenges faced by international cohorts. This systematic approach transforms insurance from a compliance requirement into an integrated component of student well-being infrastructure.

The collaboration reflects UINSSC’s strategic evolution as a globally competitive cyber university that prioritizes holistic student development. By institutionalizing health literacy alongside academic excellence, the university positions itself as a regional leader in international student welfare standards. This initiative directly supports UINSSC’s accreditation goals under international quality assurance frameworks that emphasize student protection. The university’s investment in comprehensive insurance education signals its commitment to responsible internationalization beyond enrollment metrics. This model demonstrates how digital-native institutions can leverage partnerships to humanize technological systems. The International Office views this as foundational to attracting top global talent to Cirebon’s academic ecosystem.

The upcoming socialization event marks a significant milestone in UINSSC’s journey toward becoming a world-class institution where student welfare and academic rigor coexist seamlessly. It establishes concrete mechanisms for translating policy documents into actionable support during health emergencies. The International Office will use this framework to develop similar partnerships for mental health services and academic continuity planning. This initiative reinforces Indonesia’s growing reputation as a destination for international students seeking both quality education and humane care systems.

Reflecting on the partnership’s significance, Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D., Director of the International Office, stated: “True excellence in international education is measured by how diligently we protect their dignity and well-being while they pursue knowledge with us.” His words capture the university’s vision of global engagement rooted in compassion and responsibility. As preparations intensify for the November 27 workshop, UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon reaffirms its commitment to building academic environments where every international scholar feels valued, secure, and empowered to thrive. This is the essence of educational humanity.
