Department Students Association of Tadris Matematika (Himpunan Mahasiswa Jurusan) UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon Collaborates with International Office to Organize SDG-Based International Seminar

Cirebon, July 10, 2025 – The International Office of UIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon welcomed representatives from the Mathematics Education Student Association (HMJ Tadris Matematika) for a focused consultation on their upcoming international seminar and competition. The session was led by the Director of the International Office, Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D., who provided strategic insights to align the event with global standards and integrate it with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The discussion began with the student team presenting the initial concept of the event, including its theme, objectives, and expected participants. Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D., emphasized the importance of designing international programs that are not only academically strong but also relevant to current global issues. “If we want to be heard by the world, we must speak a language they understand impact, sustainability, and collaboration,” he said. With an SDG-oriented approach, the seminar is expected to attract broader academic interest and foster meaningful global engagement.

One of the key highlights of the consultation was the discussion about inviting international speakers. Leveraging his extensive global academic network, Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D., offered to connect the student committee with world-class experts in mathematics education, innovation, and sustainability. The presence of international speakers is considered essential for elevating the academic quality and global reach of the event. This support will not only enrich participants’ experiences but also reinforce the university’s growing presence in the international academic community.

The meeting also addressed practical aspects such as funding and logistical planning. The International Office emphasized the need for a realistic budget that reflects international standards. Various funding strategies were discussed, ranging from institutional support to potential sponsorship opportunities. Careful planning is expected to ensure smooth and impactful execution of the program.

Throughout the session, the International Office demonstrated its active role not just as an administrative unit but as a strategic partner in realizing student-led international initiatives. The office encouraged students to represent the university’s vision of becoming globally excellent thinking big, going global, while remaining well-planned and grounded. This collaboration reflects UINSSC’s commitment to equipping students with globally relevant and transformative experiences.

The meeting also opened up opportunities for future collaborations, including potential faculty involvement, cross-departmental partnerships, and joint academic programs. The International Office reaffirmed its commitment to being a catalyst for international activities that foster student leadership and broaden academic horizons.
