Ensuring Safety for International Community: International Office and Partnership of UIN SSC Discusses Insurance with PaninDai-ichi Life Agency for SN-GES 2025 Program

Cirebon, April 16, 2025 — The International Office (IO) of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon held an important virtual meeting to explore a potential collaboration in health insurance. The meeting took place via Google Meet from 10:00 to 11:00 AM WIB and was attended by Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D., Director of the International Office, alongside representatives from PaninDai-ichi Life, a well-known insurance provider in Indonesia. The agenda focused on explaining the insurance plan and discussing how it can benefit the university’s international community.

The main agenda of the meeting was to explore and understand the insurance scheme offered by PaninDai-ichi Life. During the session, the agency introduced the structure of their health insurance product and discussed how it could be tailored to meet the needs of UIN SSC’s international community. Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D., emphasized that health protection is a vital aspect of internationalization, especially for students and staff living far from home. "As part of our commitment to internationalization, we must provide a safe and secure environment for our global community, and that includes health coverage," he said. The discussion helped clarify various aspects of the insurance process and how it could be integrated into the university’s mobility programs.

PaninDai-ichi Life explained that insurance premiums would be determined based on age and gender, ensuring fairness and accuracy in coverage. For example, the premium for a 19-year-old female is IDR 5 million, while for a male of the same age, it is IDR 6 million. A 25-year-old female would pay IDR 7 million, and a 23-year-old male would pay around IDR 6 million. These figures were presented to give the university a general overview of the pricing structure. The agency noted that the underwriting process would take approximately 2 to 3 weeks, which is considered a standard timeline.

One of the highlights from the presentation was the explanation of the claim process and hospital coverage. Currently, there are 11 hospitals that support cashless services under this insurance, making it more convenient for policyholders. For hospitals outside the list, services are still accessible through a reimbursement system. This flexibility allows international students and staff to seek care from various locations while maintaining coverage. PaninDai-ichi Life also assured that a dedicated person in charge (PIC) would be assigned for smooth coordination and assistance.

The proposed insurance plan, called Health Pwteetron, was designed to provide comprehensive health protection for all participants. It is not only relevant for students but also beneficial for international lecturers, researchers, and guests affiliated with UIN SSC. The International Office sees this plan as a strategic solution to ensure health safety during academic and professional exchanges. The meeting participants agreed that insurance is a critical component for sustainable internationalization. With increasing global engagement, UIN SSC aims to offer a safe and structured environment for all international stakeholders.

This health insurance collaboration aligns with UIN SSC’s broader mission to enhance its global presence while prioritizing student and staff welfare. Through such partnerships, the International Office hopes to establish stronger support systems for international mobility. By securing health insurance as part of its standard procedures, the university ensures that it is well-prepared to respond to emergencies and health-related concerns. The initiative also reflects UIN SSC’s proactive approach to institutional development in the global education landscape. The support from trusted partners like PaninDai-ichi Life helps strengthen this commitment.

Moving forward, the International Office will conduct further internal discussions and evaluations to determine the next steps. Feedback from key stakeholders will be collected to finalize the insurance policy and implementation plan. The office is optimistic about the collaboration and hopes to introduce the insurance coverage in the upcoming academic cycle. As international programs continue to grow, having structured health support becomes increasingly essential. UIN SSC remains committed to creating a holistic international experience that prioritizes safety, inclusion, and sustainability.
