Financial Preparedness: Nigerian SN-GES 2025 Students Register BSI Accounts During Orientation Program
Cirebon, September, 22nd 2025 — On the first day of orientation at the International Office and Partnership of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon (UIN SSC), the Nigerian SN-GES 2025 students, consisting of Aliyu Masaudu (Islamic Communication and Broadcasting), Muhammad Bello Abbas (Sharia Accounting), Haruna Musa Balarabe (Sharia Economics), and Umar Abba (Qur’anic Studies and Tafsir), were guided to open accounts at Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), which will serve as the channel for their scholarship funds. The BSI marketing team was present to provide step-by-step guidance, working alongside Lala Bumela, Ph.D. Director of the International Office, staff member Gina Amalia Sholihah, S.Sos, and the IO’s Global Engagement Team (GET). “Ensuring our international students have access to secure financial services from the start is an essential part of their orientation and academic experience,” said Lala Bumela.
The registration process included both technical instructions and explanations about banking services available to international students, including online banking, scholarship fund transfers, and savings management. The BSI representatives patiently guided each student, ensuring they understood account features and security measures. The orientation setup, held at the International Office, created a supportive environment that helped students complete the registration efficiently and confidently.
Lala Bumela emphasized the importance of financial preparedness as part of the holistic orientation experience. “We want our students to focus on their studies without worrying about financial logistics. By assisting them with bank registration, we remove barriers to their scholarship disbursement and provide peace of mind,” he said. He added that having a BSI account ensures timely and transparent access to scholarship funds, which is critical for the students’ daily living and academic activities in Cirebon.
Throughout the registration session, GET members actively supported the students, answering questions and helping with document verification. This collaborative effort allowed the process to proceed smoothly, reflecting the structured approach of UIN SSC in welcoming international scholars. The session also included a brief overview of responsible financial management practices, ensuring that students understand how to manage their scholarship funds effectively.
Lala Bumela remarked on the successful integration of banking services into the orientation program. “Combining financial literacy with administrative support is part of our broader strategy to prepare international students for both academic success and daily life in Indonesia,” he explained. He highlighted that such practical support reinforces the university’s commitment to creating a nurturing and fully supportive environment for scholars from abroad.
By the end of the session, all Nigerian SN-GES 2025 scholars had successfully registered their BSI accounts and expressed satisfaction with the guidance provided. Lala Bumela concluded the activity by reiterating the value of collaboration between the International Office, GET, and the BSI team. “This initiative ensures that our international students can focus entirely on their academic journey, while we provide the practical support necessary for them to thrive,” he said. The session represents UIN SSC’s continuous efforts to combine administrative efficiency with student-centered services for a smooth and welcoming orientation experience.
