Germany Language Program: An International Office & Partnership Initiative Supporting UINSSC’s Global Mission

Cirebon, May 23, 2025  The International Office of UIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon (UINSSC) is stepping forward with an exciting new initiative: a German language learning program designed to strengthen global academic connectivity and prepare students for international opportunities. This initiative, led by Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph. D., as Director of the International Office with his team, reflects the university’s broader vision to cultivate globally competitive graduates.

Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph. D., expressed enthusiastic support for the launch of the program, highlighting the spirit of synergy between university stakeholders in building meaningful international pathways. “This is not just about learning a language,” he said, “it’s about opening doors to global collaboration, cultural understanding, and future study or career opportunities in German-speaking countries.” The program is initiated and developed entirely by the International Office & Partnership team, showcasing their proactive role in transforming international strategies into practical academic initiatives.

Importantly, the design of this program aligns closely with the directives from UINSSC’s Rector, Prof. Dr. H. Aan Jaelani, M.Ag., who has emphasized that every international activity must create a multiplier effect. In this case, the impact is expected to extend beyond the language learners—supporting policy development, international recognition systems, and broader academic transformation within the university.

To ensure academic and institutional alignment, the International Office & Partnership has also assembled a specialized team to design the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) framework. The director of International Office & Partnership explained that the framework will include key components such as a Rector’s Decree (SK), technical implementation guidelines, well-defined learning outcomes, and critical administrative documentation. “One of the most important aspects,” he added, “is the faculty assessment guidance, which we hope will encourage a shift from summative evaluations to more formative, student-centered assessment.”

This shift represents a broader academic transformation at UINSSC, where global perspectives and international exposure are being embedded into the student learning experience. With the German language program as a starting point, the International Office & Partnership aims to cultivate resilience, adaptability, and global readiness among its students.

As the main implementing body, the International Office—under the leadership of Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph. D., and supported by a dedicated team—will oversee the program’s development, quality assurance, and continuous refinement. The team will ensure that the program not only runs effectively but also adapts to the needs of students and the evolving international landscape.

Another significant component of this initiative is its digital integration. The International Office has proposed the creation of a dedicated digital platform to support this program, reinforcing UINSSC’s transformation into a smart and connected campus. This digitalization effort is in line with UINSSC’s vision to become “Unggul Mendunia,” by ensuring international programs are accessible, inclusive, and future-ready.

Through this forward-looking initiative, UINSSC is reaffirming its commitment to global engagement. The German language program is not merely a linguistic offering—it is a strategic step in building bridges to international collaboration, driven by the vision and energy of the International Office.
