Global Bonds Strengthened as Nigerian Students Don the Alma Mater of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati
Cirebon, September 22, 2025 — The Director of the International Office, Lala Bumela, Ph.D., officially led the welcoming of four Nigerian students at UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon. The participants of the ceremony included the Director himself, the Nigerian students, Aliyu Masaudu (Islamic Communication and Broadcasting), Muhammad Bello Abbas (Sharia Accounting), Haruna Musa Balarabe (Islamic Economics), and Umar Abba (Qur’an and Tafsir Studies), as well as the Global Engagement Team. The event, held at the 5th floor of the International Office, was part of the Syekh Nurjati Global Excellence Scholarship (SN-GES 2025). “Today we celebrate not only an arrival but also a new chapter of collaboration between nations,” said Lala Bumela in his opening remarks. The ceremony highlighted the university’s commitment to welcoming international students and ensuring their smooth integration into campus life. The Nigerian students, who are the last arrivals under the SN-GES 2025 program, proudly received their alma mater jackets. Their inclusion symbolizes UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati’s expanding role as a hub for global education rooted in digital-based Islamic learning. Each of the four students expressed their gratitude and excitement for the opportunity to study in Cirebon. They recognized the warm welcome provided by the International Office and shared their aspirations to grow academically and personally. “Our Nigerian students bring unique perspectives that will enrich the entire academic community,” remarked Lala Bumela as he emphasized the significance of their presence. The Global Engagement Team played an important role throughout the event, ensuring that the Nigerian students felt included and supported. The team is tasked with guiding international students in academic adaptation, cultural adjustment, and social integration. Their presence reflects the university’s proactive approach to fostering a diverse and harmonious environment for learning. Beyond the ceremony, the alma mater jackets represent a formal recognition of the students as members of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati.
