International Office of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon Discusses Health Insurance Plan for International Students (SN-GES 2025 Awardees) with AIA Insurance
Cirebon, April 15, 2025 — The International Office of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon held an important meeting with representatives from AIA Insurance through the Jakarta Vision One agency. The meeting, which took place from 09:00 to 10:00 WIB at the International Office, focused on exploring health insurance options for international students who currently do not have any form of health protection. This initiative reflects the commitment of the International Office to ensure the well-being and safety of international students throughout their academic journey.
The discussion opened with a presentation from AIA Insurance, outlining their partnership with Jakarta Vision One and the process involved in setting up insurance coverage. The representatives emphasized the need for data on the number and ages of the students, most of whom fall between 19 to 23 years old. This demographic information is crucial in determining the appropriate coverage and premium levels. “We are ready to tailor our services to match the specific needs of international students at UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon,” stated the AIA representative during the meeting.
One of the critical points raised was the underwriting process—an internal evaluation phase before the policy issuance. AIA admitted to some current issues involving a 15-member team handling underwriting, which might cause slight delays. Despite these challenges, AIA remains committed to delivering reliable services. The International Office expressed the importance of streamlining this process, considering how crucial timely health protection is for students living far from home.
Aside from general protection against common illnesses such as gastritis, AIA introduced a "health task" facility specifically designed for students. This includes long-term coverage based on their academic term and semester system. Students can also benefit from inpatient services at the lowest VIP room category in partner hospitals, with full coverage for medications, surgeries, doctor visits, and other medical procedures. While the focus is on inpatient care, outpatient services are also accessible through special hospital lines.
Interestingly, AIA offers a bundled accident protection plan typically used by corporations, now adapted for individual student use. While corporate insurance is usually intended for employees, AIA is willing to customize it for international students. To enroll, students must provide a health certificate and a police clearance letter (SKCK) from their home country. This requirement helps ensure the eligibility and smooth processing of their insurance application.
The insurance coverage also extends to selected countries in Asia such as Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore, offering added flexibility for students who may travel regionally. Payment is adjusted according to the hospital bills, and students can upgrade to a platinum plan with discounted premiums. This option is particularly appealing for students seeking more comprehensive protection during their studies in Indonesia.
Finally, AIA clarified that any policy premium increases due to internal regulations will be coordinated directly with the university. The International Office appreciated the transparency and agreed to follow up by collecting data on the number of international students. This partnership marks a significant step in enhancing the university's support systems for international students, reinforcing UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon as a safe and supportive academic environment for global scholars.
