International Office of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon Holds Warm Pre-Departure Briefing for Incoming International Students

Cirebon, September 15, 2025— The International Office (IO) of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon hosted an online Pre-Departure Meeting from its 5th floor office in the Siber Building. The session ran from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and welcomed four international scholarship recipients who will soon begin their studies in Indonesia. The gathering, designed to guide new students before their arrival, was opened by an enthusiastic IO intern, setting a warm and welcoming tone for the discussion.

From the very start, the meeting carried an air of excitement and anticipation. The IO intern expressed heartfelt greetings and explained that this session was “a chance to answer every question you might have before setting foot in Indonesia.” The four students, representing different countries and academic backgrounds, were invited to introduce themselves and share their expectations. Their smiles and thoughtful words reflected both curiosity and eagerness, creating a friendly and encouraging atmosphere across the digital platform.

The presentation covered key information about living and studying in Indonesia, with a focus on helping students feel at home. The IO team explained step-by-step guidance on visa procedures, airport arrival, and health insurance. Details about academic registration, and campus facilities were also shared. Practical advice, such as how to set up a local bank account, use public transportation, and adapt to Indonesia’s diverse culture, was given to ensure a smooth transition into daily life.

Cultural preparation was another highlight of the session. The interns spoke about Indonesian customs, local etiquette, and basic Bahasa Indonesia phrases that will help students connect with their new community. They encouraged students to embrace local traditions while also sharing their own cultures on campus. This exchange, the intern explained, “is what makes UIN Siber a vibrant and internationally minded university—everyone learns from each other.” The students expressed excitement at the thought of exploring Cirebon’s historic neighborhoods and tasting Indonesian cuisine for the first time.

After the presentation, a lively question-and-answer session allowed the participants to clarify important details. Three thoughtful questions emerged, focusing on study schedules, academic expectations, and campus support services. The IO team responded with clear explanations and practical examples, ensuring that each concern was addressed. The students expressed relief and gratitude, noting that they felt more confident and better prepared for their upcoming journey.

Throughout the session, the International Office demonstrated its dedication to global engagement and student care. By entrusting student interns with a central role, the office showcased its belief in empowering young leaders while providing a personal touch for incoming students. “Your arrival is something we look forward to,” the intern concluded, “and we are here to help you every step of the way.” This message captured the heart of the International Office’s mission: to make every international student feel welcomed and supported from the very beginning.

The meeting closed with mutual excitement as both staff and students reflected on the new friendships soon to be formed on campus. For UIN Siber, such pre-departure briefings are more than just administrative necessities, they are moments of connection that build trust and belonging. As the screen went dark and goodbyes were exchanged, the anticipation for the students’ arrival grew stronger, marking the start of a memorable academic and cultural journey in Indonesia.

Through this successful pre-departure event, the International Office reaffirmed its role as a bridge between nations, ensuring that every international student’s transition is not only smooth but also filled with warmth and understanding. With this careful preparation, UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon continues to stand out as a university where global learning truly begins with human connection.
