IO UIN SSC Executes a Comprehensive Pre-Conference Evaluation with the Global Engagement Team, Guided by the Strategic Direction of Lala Bumela, Ph.D., to Ensure a World-Class AsiaCALL International Conference Experience

Cirebon, November, 14th 2025 — A day before the highly anticipated AsiaCALL International Conference 2025, the International Office of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon held a thorough and strategically oriented pre-conference evaluation meeting led by Lala Bumela, Ph.D., Director of the International Office and President of AsiaCALL Conference 2025. Conducted on 14 November 2025 from 13.00 to 17.00, this internal session brought together the Global Engagement Team (GET) as the core task force responsible for ensuring that every detail aligns with international academic conference standards. The evaluation reviewed all key aspects of the previous day’s activities, including documentation quality, guest-handling performance of the LO and FO teams, and the readiness of operational units entrusted with handling international participants. In addition, Lala Bumela, Ph.D. emphasized the importance of monitoring the accommodation and travel status of the keynote speakers who were still en route to Cirebon, reminding the team that “every detail we finalize today will shape the world-class image UIN SSC presents tomorrow.”

Despite the impressive progress showcased so far, the International Office encountered several real challenges throughout the pre-conference phase. The most pressing concern was the limited number of committee members available, especially because the Global Engagement Team had to take on multiple roles simultaneously: committee staff, conference participants, academic presenters, and division officers. This multitasking dynamic placed considerable pressure on the team, stretching their capacity and concentration across multiple responsibilities at once. Yet rather than discouraging the group, the difficulty revealed their dedication to delivering an international-standard event despite limited resources. Lala Bumela, Ph.D. reaffirmed that this situation represented not a weakness but a transformative learning moment, stating that these challenges were “part of their journey in upgrading their skills and capacity toward global professional standards.”

During the internal review, Lala Bumela, Ph.D. offered direct guidance that reshaped the team’s mindset and clarified the institution’s strategic direction. He reminded the committee that AsiaCALL is not merely an institutional agenda but a global academic platform that showcases the intellectual identity of UIN SSC to the international community. He emphasized, “What we are doing here is not only preparing for an event, but preparing UIN SSC’s reputation as a university capable of standing on the global stage.” His words motivated the team, instilling a renewed sense of discipline and pride. The dialogue between him and the GET members highlighted the importance of consistency, precision, and hospitality—three pillars that he believes must define UIN SSC’s professional culture in every international engagement.

Following this directive, each division within the International Office refined their workflows and reassessed their action plans for the main conference days. The documentation team committed to capturing more culturally representative, spontaneous, and academically meaningful moments to enrich the visual narrative of AsiaCALL 2025. LO and FO divisions repeated scenario-based protocols to anticipate the unique needs of foreign guests arriving from various countries, ensuring sensitivity to linguistic, cultural, and logistical considerations. Meanwhile, the logistics division strengthened coordination with external partners regarding transportation routes, hotel placements, and stage setup—all to uphold the standard expected from an international conference. This development phase catalyzed a spirit of excellence among the members, transforming reflective critique into practical improvement.

By the end of the evaluation, the GET reached a unified operational blueprint that addressed every challenge identified earlier in the day. Their final preparations illustrated not only readiness but also the maturity of UIN SSC’s internationalization efforts. The multitasking roles that once seemed overwhelming eventually became a source of strength, as each member demonstrated adaptability and agility in coordinating duties. The International Office emerged with a sharper strategy, clearer priorities, and elevated confidence for the conference scheduled on 15–16 November 2025. The atmosphere, once tense due to time pressure, shifted into one of optimism as everyone recognized how far the collective effort had brought the institution.

In closing the meeting, Lala Bumela, Ph.D. delivered a reflective message that captured the essence of the day’s evaluation. He stated, “Every international agenda challenges us to grow, and growth is never comfortable—but it is always worthwhile.” His words resonated deeply with the GET, who realized that the AsiaCALL preparation journey had nurtured not only technical competence but also professional character. The moral takeaway of the entire process is clear: excellence does not emerge from ease, but from consistent learning, collaboration, and resilience. Under this shared understanding, the International Office steps into AsiaCALL 2025 not only as organizers—but as a team strengthened by experience, ready to deliver a world-class academic conference for the global community.
