Lala Bumela, Ph.D. Delivers the Closing Speech of the 22nd AsiaCALL International Conference, Celebrating Global Collaboration, Knowledge Sharing, and Academic Excellence
Cirebon, November 16, 2025 — Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D., Director of the International Office of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon (UIN SSC) and President of the 22nd AsiaCALL International Conference, delivered the closing speech on the final day of the event, held at the 8th-floor auditorium of the Cyber Building, UIN SSC. Opening his address, Lala Bumela, Ph.D. stated, “I am deeply grateful to each participant, speaker, and volunteer who made this conference possible; together, we have created a truly remarkable academic journey.” He expressed appreciation for the successful completion of the 22nd AsiaCALL Conference 2025. Lala Bumela, Ph.D. reflected on the challenges faced during preparation, including budget efficiency and administrative constraints. Despite these obstacles, he expressed pride in the team for accomplishing the mission successfully. This 22nd AsiaCALL International Conference marked the first and largest international conference hosted by UIN SSC, setting a milestone for the university. The event was attended by a diverse group of guests representing various universities and countries, demonstrating the global reach of the conference.
The final day featured a series of dynamic sessions, including keynote and distinguished speaker presentations, parallel sessions, and the AsiaCALL symposium. Keynote speakers included Ania Lian, Ph.D. (Vice President of AsiaCALL), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Vu Phi Ho, Ph.D. (Vice President for Administrative Affairs and Publication of AsiaCALL), and Prof. Dr. Jeremy White. Distinguished speakers such as Assoc. Prof. Hassan Khosravi, Ph.D. (The University of Queensland, Australia), Prof. Shameem Rafik-Galea, Ph.D. (SEGi University, Malaysia), and Made Hery Santosa, Ph.D. (Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha) also attended, while Luqman Baehaqi, Ph.D. (UIN Palangka Raya) joined online. Participants actively shared research, exchanged ideas, and engaged in discussions that strengthened the academic dialogue. Presenters from Japan, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Netherlands, the Philippines, and other countries added a rich international dimension. These sessions provided practical insights and inspiration for future research, teaching, and cross-border collaboration in CALL.
In his speech, Lala Bumela, Ph.D. reflected, “I have learned not only from our keynote speakers but also from all of you; every participant and presenter has inspired me deeply.” He praised the stamina, focus, and engagement of all participants throughout the event.
