Making Language Learning Fun: UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon's First German Course Begins with Energy, Games, and Student Enthusiasm

Cirebon, August 3, 2025 – The International Office is once again demonstrating its commitment to improving human resources through the organization of a German language course. This program is specifically designed for the first 20 participants of the double track program, particularly those who are recipients of the Indonesia Smart Card (KIP). This initiative not only opens up new opportunities for the students but also strengthens the collaboration among the various parties involved. We believe that this program will be a valuable asset for the participants as they pursue global careers in the future.

This course is the result of a great collaboration with Prime Language Course, an institution known for its high-quality foreign language instruction. With three professional and experienced instructors, the participants are being intensively guided to achieve a proficiency level equivalent to B2 in German. The structured curriculum is designed to facilitate a deep understanding of the language. Furthermore, full support from the International Office is provided until the end of the program. The Director of the International Office, Lala Bumela Sudimantara Ph.D, is directly mentoring the participants, offering motivation and guidance. Additionally, the representative from Global Katalyst, Mrs. Purwanti Wulandari, M.Pd., is also monitoring the students’ progress.

The learning process begins with essential basic materials, such as the pronunciation of letters, numbers, and colors in German. The participants are also taught how to introduce themselves, a fundamental skill in communication. These initial sessions are designed to build a strong foundation before moving on to more complex material. This approach ensures that every participant has a solid understanding from the ground up, making them ready to receive advanced content. To maintain enthusiasm and keep the learning atmosphere enjoyable, the course is interspersed with fun games sessions. This fun learning method has proven to be very effective in helping students absorb the material without feeling burdened. One of the most anticipated games is the Kahoot quiz, which consists of three levels and focuses on everyday German expressions. This game not only tests knowledge but also trains participants’ speed and accuracy in responding.

The excitement grew even more when two interns at the International Office emerged as the winners. They are Bustanul Arifin and Mitsni Uswatun Hasanah. Both demonstrated outstanding performance in the quiz, successfully outshining the other participants. Their victory is not just an achievement in the game but also an indicator of the learning’s success. Based on the evaluation conducted through these fun games, the two winners are considered to have mastered the material equivalent to German or Deutsch level A1.

Through this program, the International Office hopes to continue making a positive contribution to the world of education. The synergy between the institution, instructors, and participants is the key to success. It is hoped that in the future, there will be more similar programs that can bridge students to broader global opportunities. This program is a tangible form of our efforts to prepare a competitive young generation ready to face global challenges.
