Shaping Global Professionals: International Office’s GET Delivers Socialization on Internship Programs in Germany and Japan

Cirebon, July 14, 2025  A momentous milestone was achieved as the Global Engagement Team (GET) from the International Office of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon successfully conducted an inspiring and comprehensive socialization session on the International Internship Program in two globally influential nations: Germany and Japan. The event marked a significant leap forward in the university’s ongoing mission to expand global opportunities for its students and reinforce its role as a leader in Islamic higher education with international reach. Held with great enthusiasm and professionalism, the session attracted a diverse audience including Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D., Director of the International Office, members of the GET team, and a large group of ambitious students eager to broaden their horizons beyond national borders. This gathering not only informed but also ignited dreams among participants, showcasing the limitless possibilities that await them abroad.

The session began with a detailed overview of the Internship Program in Japan, which followed the first coordination meeting between UINSSC and its strategic partner, Nukita Kunci Buana, the bridge facilitating academic and professional collaboration with Japanese institutions. Presenter highlighted the growing demand in Japan for international workers, especially in sectors such as aged care, hospitality, food processing, and restaurant services, fields where Indonesian talent is highly valued. One of the most exciting aspects of this program is its accessibility: participants are not required to hold a formal language certification like the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), but instead must demonstrate basic Japanese communication skills and the ability to understand workplace instructions proven through direct interviews with Japanese companies. This inclusive approach opens doors for many students who may have felt excluded due to financial or linguistic barriers.

Administrative requirements were also clearly outlined, including necessary documents such as passports, SKCK (Indonesian police clearance), and appropriate visas, ensuring that students could prepare themselves comprehensively. Financial planning was another key focus, with transparent information provided regarding estimated costs and funding options available to participants. These details reassured attendees that while the journey might be challenging, it was indeed achievable with proper guidance and support from the university. The presentation concluded with a strong emphasis on the cultural and professional growth that comes with living and working in Japan, an opportunity to not only gain valuable experience but also deepen intercultural understanding and personal resilience.

Turning to Germany, the socialization took on an even more advanced tone, reflecting the maturity of preparations already underway for the Ausbildung Program in partnership with Global Katalyst e.V. Unlike the one-year internship program in Japan, which is open to students starting from their third semester, Ausbildung is designed for graduating students who will embark on this transformative journey after completing their studies at UINSSC. Participants must achieve a German language proficiency level of B1/B2, a goal made accessible through intensive language training offered directly on campus. This seamless integration of language preparation into the academic curriculum ensures that students are well-equipped before they step onto German soil. The session emphasized how this dual-track vocational training system combines theoretical knowledge with practical work experience, allowing participants to earn while they learn, a model highly respected across Europe.

What set the German program apart during the presentation was the clarity and attractiveness of its benefits. From affordable program fees to full support in language acquisition, accommodation assistance, and visa processing, every aspect was tailored to reduce barriers and maximize success. Attendees were particularly inspired by the life-changing opportunities awaiting successful candidates, including employment contracts, access to healthcare, and pathways to permanent residency. As Dr. Lala Bumela Sudimantara stated with conviction, “This is your chance to step onto the global stage. These programs are your opportunities to grow as ambassadors of Indonesia.” His words resonated deeply, reinforcing the idea that these programs are not just career enhancers, but life-altering experiences.

What made the session even more engaging was when Bustanul Arifin, a dynamic member of the Global Engagement Team, took the stage and captivated the audience by introducing himself entirely in German. His flawless pronunciation, confident delivery, and warm demeanor instantly drew applause and admiration from the crowd. This moment not only demonstrated the real-world application of language learning but also inspired students to believe that they too could master a foreign language and use it effectively in professional settings. Bustanul’s performance served as a powerful example of the kind of transformation these programs aim to create students evolving into globally competent professionals. It was a moment that turned theory into reality, igniting dreams and fueling motivation among the attendees.

Above all, the entire socialization event served as a powerful testament to the International Office’s unwavering dedication to transparency, inclusivity, and student empowerment. By sharing detailed, accurate, and actionable information, UINSSC reaffirmed its role as a trusted guide in navigating the complexities of international engagement. The session also highlighted the broader vision of the Syekh Nurjati Global Employability Framework, under which these programs fall as part of a holistic strategy to ensure that every graduate is not only academically excellent but also professionally agile and globally mobile. As the event concluded, excitement filled the air, with students exchanging ideas, asking questions, and expressing their eagerness to take the next steps toward applying. With each passing day, UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon continues to rise as a beacon of hope, opportunity, and excellence on the world stage.
