Strengthening Internationalization, UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Digital Library Features Global Engagement Team of International Office in International Seminar

Cirebon, July 17, 2025 — Dozens of lecturers and academic staff from various universities across Indonesia gathered at the UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon (UINSSC) for an international seminar titled "Cyber and Information Ethics: Navigating the Landscapes of Cyber Ethics and Information Ethics: Exploring the Challenges, Management Strategies, and Policies in the Realm of Digital Libraries." Organized by the West Java Regional Forum of Indonesian University Libraries (FPPTI) in collaboration with the UINSSC Library, this seminar served as a vital forum to address crucial issues surrounding digital libraries and information ethics in the cyber era.

A wide range of pressing topics were discussed by the speakers, including data privacy, information governance, and policy challenges in digital spaces. The seminar featured three keynote speakers: Dr. Labibah, M.LIS., Amir Hussain Md Ishak, and Prof. Didin Nurul Rosyidin, Ph.D., each offering deep and diverse insights that enriched the discussions and created space for constructive engagement among participants. This seminar not only elevated high-level academic discourse but also reflected UINSSC’s strategic direction in strengthening its vision as a globally competitive educational institution.

One of the most notable highlights of the event was the presence of Cyrila Zahra Tsania, an active member of the Global Engagement Team (GET) and part of the UINSSC International Office, who served as the Master of Ceremony (MC). Conducting the entire event confidently and warmly in English, Cyrila not only enlivened the atmosphere but also captured the attention and earned wide appreciation from the audience. Her role as MC was more than ceremonial—it reflected the institution’s trust in the capacity and potential of its young generation to represent the university on the international stage.

Cyrila’s performance as MC stands as concrete proof that UINSSC students and young staff are capable of taking strategic roles in global arenas. “She wasn’t just reading the rundown, she was truly connecting with the audience,” commented one seminar participant. Her involvement demonstrated the importance of mastering soft skills and cross-cultural communication, two key areas consistently nurtured by the International Office as part of its leadership and capacity-building efforts.

Moreover, the International Office was also represented by Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D., who served as moderator in one of the seminar sessions. With a thoughtful and well-structured moderating style, Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D., effectively facilitated dialogue between speakers and participants, creating a meaningful and inclusive discussion space. His presence further emphasized the active role of the International Office, not only in managing international collaborations but also in participating in the intellectual life of the university.

The strategic collaboration between the UINSSC Library and FPPTI West Java has opened new opportunities for the International Office to expand institutional networks at both national and international levels. The seminar served as a potential platform to foster research partnerships, academic exchanges, and broader collaborative programs in the future. Amid this momentum, Cyrila’s presence on stage as MC symbolized the university's internal readiness to step confidently onto the global stage.

The direct involvement of the International Office team, especially through Cyrila’s public-facing role, demonstrates that internationalization at UINSSC is more than a vision; it is being implemented in tangible ways. “We train our team to be ready for various academic scenarios: hosting international guests, moderating discussions, and speaking in public,” shared one staff member. Cyrila’s performance epitomized that readiness. Her success, supported by Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D., leadership as moderator, underscores the International Office’s commitment to preparing students and academic staff to engage globally.

Internationalization is no longer just about establishing overseas partnerships; it’s about showcasing the university’s internal quality on the global stage and in this case, it all begins with a confident voice on the microphone.
