The Aesthetic Syntax of Thought and Emotion: UIN SSC Web Administrator Team’s Professional Writing Initiative for AsiaCALL 2025
Cirebon, October 17, 2025 — The Web Administrator of the Global Engagement Team (The Student Interns at International Office of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon) held an online workshop attended by all members of the web administrator team: Cindi Aulia, Laily Dwi Islami Azzahra, Muhammad Azkiya Bahtsulkhoir, Nurhusni Yusriyyah Yumna, Salsabilla, and Resa Diah Gayatri. The session was led by Resa Diah Gayatri, the person in charge of the web administrator division. This workshop Supported by the Director of the International Office, Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D., as he stated that the Professional Writing Workshop for AsiaCALL 2025 unfolded as a living intersection of intellect, creativity, and emotion. The workshop aimed to ensure that all AsiaCALL-related publications embodied not only technical precision but also emotional resonance and aesthetic balance. “We are building a syntax of thought, a way to write that reflects both clarity of mind and beauty of meaning,” he said.
The workshop began with a warm discussion where Resa invited the participants to reflect on their experiences as web administrators. “So, how do you feel after several months of being part of the team?” she asked. This opening encouraged participants to share both their focus or moments of motivation, and disturbance, challenges they faced. Furthermore, yet the challenge was real: the web administrator team was small, the tasks immense, and the expectations global. Each member had to manage overlapping roles while ensuring that every news article for AsiaCALL 2025 adhered to international publication standards. They are aware of the high stakes, and writing for an international audience demands not just linguistic accuracy but emotional awareness a sense of timing, tone, and narrative rhythm that moves the reader. Using Ania Lian’s Reading for Emotion framework, they learn how each publication should follow the emotional stages of Focus, Disturbance, Dialogue, Development, Resolution, and Moral, ensuring that even an institutional report could “breathe with human feeling.”
In the next session, the focus shifted to practical aspects of content management, particularly on maintaining visual and editorial consistency in every published article. Participants learned detailed guidelines on image formatting to prevent distorted or stretched visuals on the website. Simultaneously, they infused visual and linguistic aesthetics inspired by Ramachandran’s neuroaesthetic theory: adjusting rhythm, contrast, and linguistic imagery to create beauty that engages both cognition and feeling. They were also taught how to embed YouTube videos into news posts, enriching the multimedia dimension of the International Office site. This segment helped the team better understand the importance of accuracy, attention to detail, and consistency throughout the digital publication process.
The workshop also served as a strategic space to discuss upcoming plans, especially the preparation of the Web Administrator Team for the upcoming AsiaCALL 2025 event. In this international conference, the team will play a crucial role in publishing activities, updating information, and managing real-time content. The discussion highlighted the importance of precision, visual appeal, and professionalism in representing UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon on the global stage. The team collectively agreed to strengthen collaboration among writers, editors, and web managers to enhance the university’s digital communication effectiveness.
Toward the end of the session, participants reflected on how much their skills had developed, not only technically but also in teamwork and shared responsibility. The workshop concluded with renewed enthusiasm to improve the quality of publication and website management within the International Office. Although they had faced website errors in the days leading up to the event, the participants felt more confident and motivated to keep learning. The activity reminded everyone that effective digital communication is built upon clarity, consistency, and collaboration.
They also were given a meaningful final instruction that tied the workshop’s learning outcomes into practice. Each member was asked to write a news article about the workshop itself using either the methods Resa had demonstrated or their own preferred writing approach. “I hope the knowledge I’ve shared today will be useful, and may our writing quality continue to improve in the future,” she said. The workshop, thus, became a manifestation of reading and writing for emotion, a reaffirmation that even in the digital age, the most powerful algorithms are still empathy and beauty.
