The International Office of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon Inaugurates a Comprehensive Health Protection Ecosystem for Global Scholars: The AIA Instant Policy Handover and Socialization Program as a Model of Ethical, Human-Centered Internationalization
Cirebon, November 27, 2025 – The International Office of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon formally inaugurated the AIA Health Instant Policy Handover and Socialization Program on Thursday afternoon under the leadership of Director Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D. This important socialization was held by the International Office team consisting of Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D. (Director of the International Office), Ivo Dinasta Yanuar, M.Appling. (Secretary of International Office), Ghina Amaliyah Sholihah, S.Sos. (Staff of International Office), along with the Global Engagement Team (Student staffs of the International Office) as the event committee. Academic leadership presence strengthened the forum through the attendance of Dr. Arief Rachman, S.Sos., M.Si., Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Dakwah and Islamic Communication (FDKI), and Dr. Naeila Rifatul Muna, M.Pd.I., Vice Dean II of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab (FUA).
Representatives from AIA Assurance included Nuh Prabawa Laurens, Ariargo W. Putra, Adrianto, Meizar B. Kurniasari, Rofi Mutaaludin, and Diati, while Medimas Hospital was represented by Anwar and Ayu. and 19 international students from the Philippines, Thailand, Senegal, and Nigeria under the Syekh Nurjati Global Scholarship. Master of Ceremony Tsamarah Bahira Alzena presided over the event in Cyber Building’s International Office, marking a strategic milestone in UINSSC’s commitment to student well-being. This initiative follows the university’s successful hosting of AsiaCALL 2025 and expansion of mobility programs across Malaysia and Germany. The gathering symbolized UINSSC’s evolution from regional institution to globally recognized academic destination anchored in Cirebon’s 600-year scholarly heritage.
In his opening address, Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D. highlighted the university’s exponential growth in international enrolment, reflecting its strategic alignment with Cirebon’s historical identity as a crossroads of knowledge. He contextualized this achievement within recent institutional milestones, including the landmark AsiaCALL conference featuring 192 authors from seventeen nations and the establishment of the Syekh Nurjati German Center for industrial internships. Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D. emphasized the significance of comprehensive health coverage as foundational to academic excellence: “And what makes me feel at ease is that our international students now have both outpatient and inpatient coverage.” This statement underscored the transition from previous cumbersome compliant schemes to a seamless solution supporting student welfare. His remarks positioned health security as non-negotiable infrastructure for world-class international education. The International Office’s meticulous planning transformed logistical necessity into strategic advantage.
Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D. detailed the rigorous year-long selection process that identified AIA Indonesia as the optimal partner after evaluating five insurers. He praised AIA’s responsiveness during underwriting phases and flexibility in designing three customizable policy tiers tailored to the precise demographic profile of incoming scholars. The final policy integrates outpatient consultations, inpatient hospitalization, surgical procedures, dental care, and life-accident benefits under a single cashless administration framework, a critical advancement for student retention and UINSSC’s global reputation. AIA representatives reinforced their institutional credibility as part of an 18-market Asia-Pacific group operating in Indonesia since 1984, now ranking among the nation’s top three life insurers. The policy period (October 6, 2025–October 5, 2026) features age bands spanning 17–79 years with renewability up to 64 years. This partnership exemplifies UIN SSC’s commitment to operational excellence in student support systems.
Medimas Hospital’s Muhammad Saiful Anwar presented specialized healthcare protocols designed exclusively for UINSSC’s international cohort. These include one-bed-one-room VIP accommodations across all specialties and pharmacy home delivery via JNE to campus residences. Crucially, all billing coordination will be managed directly between Medimas staff and International Office liaison Ghina Amaliyah Sholihah, S.Sos., eliminating administrative burdens during medical emergencies. AIA complemented these services by demonstrating their “AIA My Health” mobile application, which enables digital access to policy details, clinic locators, pre-authorization workflows, and e-claims submissions. The platform integrates AIA Vitality, a wellness incentive program rewarding daily physical activities through tangible health benefits. These technological and service innovations collectively prioritize student recovery over bureaucratic navigation, aligning with UINSSC’s human-centered institutional philosophy.
The Q&A session clarified critical policy parameters, establishing transparent expectations for all stakeholders. Medical check-ups are covered only when clinically indicated by physicians, while pre-existing conditions gain eligibility after one year of continuous enrollment. Dental procedures require general practitioner referrals, with scaling excluded but extractions and fillings included. Sports injury coverage undergoes case-by-case review, excluding competitions with prize money. Lost insurance cards trigger immediate temporary manual coverage pending verification, and overseas treatment is limited to inpatient reimbursement requiring English-language documentation upon return. These precise guidelines reflect UINSSC’s dedication to ethical transparency and prevention of coverage misunderstandings. The International Office documented all clarifications for distribution through student handbooks and digital portals, ensuring consistent communication across cultural contexts. This operational rigor transforms policy documents into living frameworks of care.
