Cirebon, July 22, 2025 – The International Office (IO) of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon is set to host the AsiaCALL 2025 International Conference, one of Asia’s most dynamic academic events on language learning and technology. Scheduled to take place from 13 to 16 November 2025, the event will be held at the 8th floor of the Siber Building, with parallel sessions conducted on the 4th floor. The conference is expected to bring together a rich mix of participants—including students, teachers, and university lecturers, both offline and online. In line with IO’s mission to expand global academic partnerships, this event aims to open wider opportunities for Indonesian participation in international scholarly conversations.
The AsiaCALL Conference will be preceded by a two-day pre-conference, designed to build foundational knowledge for participants. The main conference will take place on 13–16 November, offering full-day sessions, keynote speeches, and engaging academic presentations. The structure reflects AsiaCALL’s commitment to inclusivity—ensuring both onsite and online presenters and participants can fully engage with the program. Each participant and presenter, regardless of format, will be subject to a registration fee that supports the high-quality management and global access of the event.
The International Office is working in close collaboration with external organizing committees, involving around 35 to 50 volunteers to ensure the smooth flow of the event. These committees will handle a wide range of logistics, from venue coordination to participant hospitality. In addition to academic programming, the organizers have also planned meals for student participants, culminating in a Gala Dinner as a cultural celebration. This event is not only an academic platform—it is also a space to foster connection, hospitality, and cultural exchange.
A highlight of AsiaCALL 2025 is its impressive lineup of international keynote speakers. Scholars from across Asia and the Pacific will join, including Prof. Hassar Khosravi (Queensland, Australia), Prof. Andrew Lian and Ania Lian, Ph.D. (Australia), Prof. Jeremi White (Japan), and Prof. Pham Vu Phi Ho (Vietnam). Speakers from Southeast Asia will also take the stage, including Prof. Samim (Malaysia) and a strong delegation from Indonesia: Lala Bumela, Ph.D., Lukman Behaqi, Ph.D., Mr.Hari, and Mr.Made. “We are proud to host such inspiring scholars who have shaped the direction of CALL (Computer-Assisted Language Learning) research in the region,” said Dr. Lala Bumela, who also serves as President of the Conference.
This event represents a significant step forward for the International Office in positioning UIN Siber as a regional hub for academic innovation and international engagement. By hosting AsiaCALL, the university demonstrates its readiness to contribute to cutting-edge educational discourse while highlighting Indonesia’s growing presence in global academic networks. The International Office continues to play a central role in this effort—ensuring that students and faculty alike have the chance to collaborate with leading scholars and institutions across Asia.
One of the key goals of this year’s AsiaCALL is to increase the number of Indonesian participants, encouraging more students, teachers, and lecturers from across the archipelago to share their ideas on a global stage. Presenters will speak both onsite and remotely, and their participation underscores how inclusive digital platforms have broadened access to international events. With the blended model, the conference serves not only as a scholarly gathering, but also as a training ground for emerging Indonesian researchers seeking to refine their academic communication skills and research visibility.
AsiaCALL 2025 promises to be more than just a conference—it is a celebration of language, technology, and cultural exchange. With the strong leadership of the International Office and the participation of international and local partners, the event will help chart a course for future collaboration, research innovation, and cross-border learning.
