UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon Holds Regular Check-in for SN-GES Awardees: Emphasizes Academic and Cultural Commitments
Cirebon, 8 September 2025 – The International Office of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon hosted a Regular Check-in Session for the Syekh Nurjati Global Excellence Scholarship (SN-GES) Awardees 2024 and 2025, attended by international students from the Philippines, Thailand, Yemen, Sudan and Senegal. The program was chaired by Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D., Director of the International Office, and served as an important platform to strengthen communication, provide updated guidance, and reaffirm the commitments of scholarship as they embark on their academic journey in Indonesia.
The session opened with a welcoming note, highlighting the diversity brought by the new awardees. Students were then given a comprehensive overview of the campus environment to support and ensure a smooth adaptation process. This session aimed to familiarize them with both the academic atmosphere and the cultural environment they will experience at UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon.
A key focus of the meeting was the reiteration of scholarship commitments and responsibilities. Awardees were reminded that academic achievement remains a priority, with high expectations set for maintaining strong performance throughout their studies. Equally important were the behavioral standards that underline discipline, integrity, and respect for cultural values—qualities expected from every international scholar representing the university.
Another significant part of the session introduced the Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA) program, which provides structured Indonesian language learning opportunities for international students. This initiative is designed not only to enhance classroom participation but also to promote better cultural integration, allowing awardees to engage more meaningfully with the local community, both inside and outside the campus.
The check-in session concluded by emphasizing that the SN-GES awardees are not only recipients of a scholarship, but also future ambassadors of cultural exchange and academic excellence. They are expected to grow into scholars who demonstrate outstanding academic performance, adaptability in diverse cultural contexts, and a spirit of social responsibility that benefits both UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon and their home countries.
