UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon Joins Open Session with University of Dundee, United Kingdom: Exploring Postgraduate Opportunities in Accounting and Finance
Cirebon, May 21, 2025 — UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon took part in an open session organized by the University of Dundee, United Kingdom. Representing UIN SSC in the session was the Director of the International Office and Partnership, Mr. Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D., accompanied by several students and faculty members from the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI). The session served as an outreach event introducing postgraduate opportunities—Master’s and Ph.D. programs—focused on accounting and finance at the University of Dundee.
As part of its mission to internationalize the campus, the International Office of UIN SSC actively seeks and promotes participation in global academic forums. This event marked a strategic move to connect the academic community at UIN SSC with reputable institutions abroad and provide access to quality education opportunities. It also served as a platform to explore future collaborations with the University of Dundee, particularly in academic mobility and joint programs.
Held virtually, the session offered participants an in-depth look into the structure and strengths of the University of Dundee’s programs. The university's representatives emphasized the global relevance of their curriculum and highlighted their commitment to producing graduates who are ready to lead in the international finance and accounting sectors. “We are open and excited to welcome students from Indonesia, including from UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon,” one of the speakers from Dundee expressed during the presentation.
The International Office facilitated a live Q&A session, allowing participants to directly engage with the Dundee team. Students asked questions about admission requirements, available scholarships, and the learning environment in the UK. The high level of interest shown reflected the students’ enthusiasm and growing awareness of international education pathways.
For the International Office, this session was not only informative but also part of a broader academic diplomacy effort to establish reciprocal partnerships. It aligns with the university’s vision of becoming a globally recognized digital institution. “We view this as a stepping stone towards meaningful collaborations that can benefit our students, lecturers, and institutional development,” Mr. Lala Bumela Sudimantara Ph.D. stated during a short reflection after the session.
In addition to student engagement, several faculty members expressed interest in doctoral opportunities at the University of Dundee. The International Office noted that some lecturers requested further assistance in preparing applications and understanding the scholarship processes. This shows a strong potential for academic capacity building through international postgraduate study.
Through this event, the International Office and Partnership of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon continues to assert its strategic role in bridging the university with the global academic community. The open session with the University of Dundee is part of a growing series of international initiatives that aim to empower students and faculty alike. With such efforts, UIN SSC remains committed to expanding global access and creating a future-ready academic environment.
