UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon Reinforces Holistic Student Welfare Through Strategic Health Partnership with RSU Medimas as Premier Medical Provider, Strengthened by AIA Assurance Collaboration

Cirebon, November 28,2025— Under the leadership of Lala Bumela, Ph.D., The Director of the International Office at UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon conducted a comprehensive health insurance socialization program to ensure that all international students are fully informed and protected under the university’s welfare framework. The event was held in collaboration with AIA Assurance, the official insurance provider, and RSU Medimas, the designated healthcare partner for recipients of the Syekh Nurjati-Global Excellent Scholarship (SN-GES). “Our responsibility begins the moment our students arrive,” said Lala Bumela, Ph.D.“They are guests of our nation, far from their families. When they fall ill, they must not face uncertainty; they must be met with clarity, dignity, and immediate support.” He emphasized that this initiative reflects the university’s unwavering commitment to student well-being beyond the classroom.

The program was attended by key institutional leaders, including Dr. Arief Rachman, M.Si., Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Dakwah and Islamic Communication (FDKI), and Dr. Naeila Rifatul Muna, M.Pd.I., Vice Dean II of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab (FUA). Representatives from AIA Assurance included Ariargo W. Putra, Agency Business Development Partner; Adrianto, Corporate Sales Associate; Meizar B. Kurniasari, Agency Exco Training; Nuh Prabwa Laurens, Live Planner; Rofi Mutaaludin, Live Planner; and Diati. From RSU Medimas, the hospital delegation was represented by Muhammad Saiful Anwar, Hospital Liaison Officer, and Ayu, administrative coordinator. A total of 19 SN-GES awardees were present, hailing from the Philippines, Thailand, Yemen, Nigeria, and Sudan, accompanied by three mudabbir from Ma’had al-Jami’ah who oversee student well-being on campus.

In his address, Lala Bumela, Ph.D., highlighted the critical role of RSU Medimas in ensuring seamless access to quality healthcare. “We chose RSU Medimas not only for its proximity but for its human-centered approach,” he said. “This is not just about medical treatment; it is about restoring peace of mind when a student is unwell.” He underscored that the partnership guarantees cashless services, emergency transportation, and direct coordination between the International Office and hospital staff, minimizing stress during illness. “Our students should focus on recovery not paperwork, not costs, not logistics.”

From RSU Medimas, Muhammad Saiful Anwar delivered a clear and compassionate message to the students:“If you cannot come to us,” he said,“we will come to you.” He confirmed that all SN-GES students will receive an automatic upgrade to VIP-level rooms, one level above standard coverage, ensuring comfort and privacy during hospitalization. “You don’t need to worry about billing,” he added. “Later, our team will handle the administration. Just focus on your recovery.” He also announced that medication can be delivered directly to student residences via JNE courier services, eliminating long waits at the pharmacy. For outpatient or inpatient care, students are instructed to contact Miss Gina, who will coordinate with him directly. “Just inform Miss Gina,” he said. “She will contact me, and we will take care of the rest.”

Anwar further explained that RSU Medimas is a general hospital transformed from a surgical base, equipped to handle a wide range of medical needs. “It is one of the closest hospitals from here,” he noted, reinforcing its accessibility. He emphasized that the hospital provides cashless service for all covered treatments, and in complex cases, initial payments may be required followed by reimbursement. “Don’t be afraid to ask how much your expenses are asking the medical representative anytime,” he advised. The hospital also expressed openness to future collaborations, such as health talks on nutrition, screen time management, and local health concerns like mosquito-borne diseases. “Maybe some of you have problems with mosquitoes, food in Cirebon, or spend too much screen time,” he added. “We are ready to collaborate on health education programs to support your daily lives.”

The program concluded with a strong reaffirmation of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon’s commitment to global student excellence through holistic protection. Students left empowered with knowledge on claim procedures, benefit usage, and emergency protocols. The tripartite alliance between the university, AIA Assurance, and RSU Medimas establishes a sustainable model for international student welfare. As Lala Bumela, Ph.D., stated in closing,“When a parent entrusts us with their child, they are sending a future. And in response, we offer more than education we offer protection, dignity, and care.”
