UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon Successfully Conducts Pre-Interview for SN-GES 2025 Scholarship with Candidates from Sudan and Thailand

Cirebon, May 9, 2025  The International Office of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon (UIN SSC) successfully held a pre-interview session for the Syekh Nurjati Global Excellence Scholarship (SN-GES) 2025. The session welcomed three promising international student candidates—two from Sudan and one from Thailand—who had previously passed the initial desk review stage. This online event was led directly by Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D. Head of the International Office & Partnership, who oversees all international recruitment initiatives at UIN SSC.

“We are proud to see such enthusiasm and strong motivation from these young scholars,” said Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D. “This process is not just about selecting students—it’s about shaping future leaders.” The pre-interview followed a detailed structure outlined in the SN-GES 2025 Pre-Interview Guide and Assessment Instrument. Candidates were evaluated across five key areas: Personal Introduction and Motivation, Program Fit and Academic Alignment, Readiness for Digital Learning, Critical Thinking and Personal Integrity, and Study Commitment and Post-Graduation Contribution Plan. Each applicant was assessed using 10 criteria, with scores ranging from 10 (Poor) to 50 (Excellent). These included academic readiness, communication skills, leadership experience, personal integrity, and potential contribution to the campus environment. Despite being conducted remotely, the session maintained a high level of professionalism and engagement.

Among the participants was Tasneem Wado from Thailand, who applied for the Al-Quran Science and Tafsir program under the Faculty of Ushuluddin (FUA). She stood out not only for her academic excellence but also for her impressive extracurricular achievements. A certified volleyball champion, award-winning public speaker, and Nasheed competition winner, she also holds a certificate for Quran memorization. Meanwhile, the two candidates from Sudan, Mohammad Abdeen Hashim Mohammad and Alaa Hashem Abdalla Ahmed, also displayed strong interest and commitment during the session.

Mohammad Abdeen Hashim Mohammad is applying for the Accounting Syari’ah program under the Faculty of Economics and Business Islam (FEBI), while Alaa Hashem Abdalla Ahmed has chosen the English Learning and Teacher Department at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK). Both candidates demonstrated solid academic alignment and readiness for digital learning environments. They expressed genuine enthusiasm for studying at UIN SSC and shared thoughtful plans regarding their future contributions after graduation. The International Office noted that all candidates exhibited qualities aligned with the university’s vision of global excellence and cross-cultural engagement.

Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D., emphasized that this pre-interview session plays a crucial role in attracting high-caliber international students who can thrive in UIN SSC’s diverse academic environment. “Our mission is to create a vibrant, inclusive, and globally connected campus where students from different cultures can learn, grow, and lead,” she explained. As the main gateway for international collaboration, the International Office continues to strengthen UIN SSC’s position as a leading institution for Islamic higher education. Through initiatives like SN-GES, the university fosters innovation, intercultural dialogue, and academic excellence on a global scale.

Following the pre-interview, all candidates will now proceed to the next phase—an interview with the respective Heads of the Academic Departments to which they have applied. This stage will further assess their suitability for specific programs and explore how they intend to contribute to both academic and campus life at UIN SSC. The International Office remains committed to providing full support throughout the selection process, ensuring smooth coordination between departments and applicants. With its growing reputation and welcoming environment, UIN SSC is well on its way to welcoming another exceptional cohort of international scholars in 2025.

This successful pre-interview marks yet another milestone in UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon’s journey toward becoming a world-class Islamic university.
