UINSSC’s Unwavering Commitment to Global Student Excellence Shines as Lala Bumela, Ph.D., Delivers a Distinguished Opening Address and Leads the Comprehensive Insurance Socialization with AIA Assurance and Medimas Hospital, Underscoring the University’s Relentless Determination to Provide World-Class Support and Holistic Protection for SN-GES International Students
Cirebon, November, 27th 2025 — The International Office of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon marked another milestone in its global student service enhancement by holding a comprehensive insurance socialization exclusively for the Syekh Nurjati–Global e Scholarship (SN-GES) international awardees. The agenda was led directly by Lala Bumela, Ph.D. (Director of International Office UINSSC) in collaboration with American International Assurance (AIA) as the keynote speaker and Medimas Hospital Cirebon as the healthcare partner. The event was honored by the attendance of Dr. Arief Rachman, M.Si. (Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Dakwah and Islamic Communication – FDKI) and Dr. Naeila Rifatul Muna, M.Pd.I. (Vice Dean II of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab – FUA). Representatives from AIA Assurance included Ariargo W. Putra, Adrianto, Meizar B. Kurniasari, Nuh Prabwa Laurens, Rofi Mutaaludin, and Diati, while Medimas Hospital was represented by Anwar and Ayu. A total of 19 SN-GES international students attended, originating from the Philippines, Thailand, Yemen, Nigeria, and Sudan, accompanied by three mudabbir from Ma’had al-Jami’ah UINSSC. Behind the technical arrangements and execution stood the internship-based Global Engagement Team (International Office Team of UINSSC). Opening the session, Lala Bumela, Ph.D. emphasized the university’s major vision of being excellent and world-class, stating, “We serve with global standards because our international students deserve nothing less than universal academic dignity and holistic institutional support.”
In his address, Lala Bumela, Ph.D. elaborated on the outstanding accomplishments of the International Office over the recent years — including the strategic expansion of UINSSC into multiple countries for recruiting SN-GES scholarship recipients, intensifying international research, facilitating student-exchange programs, establishing continuous national and international partnerships, initiating international internship programs, and organizing national as well as international workshops. A major highlight was UINSSC’s remarkable role as host of the 22nd AsiaCALL International Conference 2025, marking a monumental breakthrough in global academic recognition. These achievements embody the evolution-and-revolution strategy of Lala Bumela, Ph.D. to elevate UINSSC to the realm of global university stratification. As the first Cyber Islamic University, UINSSC carries a responsibility to continually improve in alignment with SDGs, ensuring sustainability, innovation, and inclusivity. He further emphasized a historically inspired vision — reviving Cirebon, particularly UINSSC, as an international hub of advanced interdisciplinary knowledge, where scholars from various nations once gathered. In alignment with this academic legacy, he stressed that all international students studying at UINSSC must receive the finest university services possible.
During the dialogue session, Lala Bumela, Ph.D. explained the strategic foundation behind selecting AIA Assurance as the official insurance partner for international students. He highlighted that AIA offers exceptional medical services not commonly found among other agencies, including both inpatient and outpatient services tailored to the needs of foreign residents. More importantly, AIA Assurance is known for clear, communicative, and highly responsive interaction — a vital attribute for international students managing medical urgency in a foreign country. The socialization aims to broaden students’ understanding of insurance usage, practical procedures, coverage benefits, and policy–terms implementation. The presence of Medimas Hospital strengthened the event by serving as a direct healthcare gateway for international students in real-world contexts, ensuring accessibility, clarity, and confidence when seeking medical assistance offline.
This collaborative agenda also demonstrated UINSSC’s progressive expansion in structuring a world-class support ecosystem for its global student community, transitioning international student services from theoretical planning to measurable and impactful implementation. International students often experience cultural, academic, and emotional adaptation challenges, and the assurance of medical safety stands among the most crucial components of their educational journey abroad. Through this initiative, the International Office not only proved its administrative excellence, but also its student-centered empathy, demonstrating that innovation and compassion must coexist to form a sustainable international academic environment. The involvement of university leaders, hospitals, and corporate partners reflected the institution’s strong multistakeholder support model that aligns with international higher-education standards..
The program successfully provided reassurance to SN-GES students that UINSSC is fully committed to prioritizing their safety, comfort, and sense of belonging during their academic journey in Indonesia. The insurance socialization empowered students to understand the technical, medical, and procedural dimensions of their health protection, enabling them to pursue intellectual development without anxiety about emergency situations. In addition, the strengthened collaboration between UINSSC, AIA Assurance, and Medimas Hospital forms a long-term foundation for sustainable, future-oriented international student welfare support. This resolution represents more than a health-related initiative — it became an institutional testament to responsibility, integrity, and global academic competitiveness.
Beyond its structural value, the agenda carried an inspiring moral reinforcement: global education cannot be separated from global protection. International students are not simply academic participants; they are individuals living far from their families and countries, deserving dignity, emotional security, and practical support. By ensuring holistic protection for SN-GES recipients, UINSSC demonstrated a humanitarian character that strengthens its global identity internally and externally. Concluding the event, Lala Bumela, Ph.D. emphasized the core spirit behind the university’s internationalization, stating, “Global engagement is meaningful only when every international student feels recognized, protected, and fully supported — our commitment will never stop.”
