Under the Supervision of the Global Engagement Team, Trainees of IO UIN SSC Refine Their Skills for the Upcoming Capacity Building Program
Cirebon, July 21, 2025 — Under the strategic direction of Lala Bumela, Ph.D., Director of the International Office and Partnership UIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon (UIN SSC), a focused mentorship process is currently underway in preparation for the Capacity Building Workshop on Digital Content Creation, scheduled to take place on July 23, 2025. What distinguishes this preparatory phase is the involvement of the senior members of the Global Engagement Team (GET)—Indra Maulana Arfan Aziz, Cyril Tsania Azzahra, Farah Syifa Mutiara Riyadi, and Indah Fitri—who have taken on the responsibility of mentoring the current cohort of trainees. Their guidance bridges the institutional knowledge of past international programming with the enthusiasm of the new generation, forming a vibrant ecosystem of continuity, collaboration, and capacity-building.
The trainees—Keysha Aulya Febrina (Formal MC), Azizatul Fikriyah Al Qory (Prayer Reader), Septiani Lu’luatul Fajriyah (Qori’), and Ananditamala Syalwa Heryana (Moderator)—have shown outstanding initiative in refining their technical and interpersonal skills through a series of structured rehearsals. Under the direct supervision of GET seniors, each session is more than a training—it is an intergenerational knowledge transfer rooted in professionalism, experience, and shared institutional vision. “Mentorship is the soul of global engagement; without it, capacity cannot be sustained,” stated Lala Bumela, Ph.D., emphasizing that true internationalization stems not only from global outreach, but from the ability to reproduce excellence within the institution
The senior GET members play specific roles in nurturing the trainees. Indra Maulana Arfan Aziz, with his experience in event protocol and coordination, focused on ensuring that flow, timing, and diplomacy are upheld in MC and moderator duties. Cyril Tsania Azzahra provided intensive feedback on vocal clarity and presence, especially for spiritual and ceremonial segments. Farah Syifa Mutiara Riyadi brought insights from cross-cultural communication, reminding trainees to balance formality with warmth in international events. Indah Fitri, known for her sensitivity to branding and tone, contributed to harmonizing the visual and verbal delivery of the trainees’ roles. Together, these mentors have transformed a rehearsal space into a collaborative studio of professional growth.
Throughout the mentoring process, the value of reflective learning has been emphasized. Each trainee receives not only technical corrections, but also personalized encouragement and scenario-based simulations. The atmosphere is respectful yet rigorous—trainees are challenged to perform under realistic conditions, yet supported with constructive feedback. “What we’re building is not just an event team—it’s a mindset of confidence, critical thinking, and international hospitality,” remarked Lala Bumela, Ph.D., highlighting that excellence in global engagement must be rehearsed with both heart and intellect.
The Capacity Building Workshop is expected to bring together participants across various institutions to explore innovative strategies for digital content creation. However, what lies beneath the surface is a living curriculum—one in which mentorship becomes method, and teamwork becomes transformation. UIN SSC is consciously designing leadership through direct interaction between experienced student leaders and emerging voices, ensuring that institutional capacity grows organically from within.
In conclusion, the synergy between the Global Engagement Team seniors and the current trainees exemplifies how UIN SSC is embedding sustainability into its internationalization agenda. Under the mentorship of Lala Bumela, Ph.D. and the guidance of Indra, Cyril, Farah, and Indah, the trainees are not merely being trained—they are being prepared to lead. With a culture of mentorship, responsibility, and mutual respect, this process lays the foundation for a new era of global-ready leaders born from within the heart of UIN SSC.
