Virtual Interviews Conclude for Prestigious Syekh Nurjati Global Excellence Scholarship (SN-GES) 2025 with 12 Finalists from Around the World
Cirebon, June 18, 2025 – Twelve international candidates from Nigeria, Yemen, Thailand, the Philippines, and Senegal have successfully completed the final interview stage for the Syekh Nurjati Global Excellence Scholarship (SN-GES) 2025, hosted by Universitas Islam Negeri Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon (UINSSC). The interviews were conducted entirely online on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, ensuring accessibility for participants across different time zones. Each session was carefully scheduled to accommodate the availability of both the candidates and the panel members. The online format allowed for a smooth and efficient selection process without compromising the quality of interaction. All technical arrangements were tested in advance to avoid disruptions during the sessions. The event marked the culmination of a rigorous selection process that began months earlier with a competitive application round. This year’s final stage reflects the growing global recognition of UINSSC as a center for Islamic and digital education.
The final interview sessions were led by a panel of academic leaders representing various departments across the university. Among the distinguished interviewers were Dr. Hj. Amroh Umaemah, M.Pd. (Head of the English Language Teaching Department), Hendi Hidayat, M.Pd. (Secretary of the English Language Teaching Department), Dr. Nana Priajana (a lecturer of English Language Teaching Department), Evi Rovianti, S.Si., M.Pd. (Head of the Biology Teacher Education Department), Abdul Muizz A.W.K.A., M.Si. (Secretary of the Accounting Sharia Department), Abdu Zikrillah, M.Ag. (Head of the Islamic Communication and Broadcasting Department), Rani Ika Wijayanti, M.Med.Kom. (Secretary of the Islamic Communication and Broadcasting Department), Nurkholidah, M.Ag. (Secretary of the Qur’anic and Tafsir Studies Department), Jefik Zulfikar Hafidz, M.H. (Secretary of the Islamic Constitutional Law Department), and H. Ridwan Widagdo, M.Si. (Head of the Accounting Sharia Department). The panel evaluated each candidate based on their academic readiness, motivation, communication skills, and alignment with the university’s values. Questions covered a wide range of topics including personal background, research interests, and future goals. The interviewers ensured consistency in assessment criteria throughout the day. Their expertise contributed to a fair and comprehensive evaluation of each applicant.
This event was coordinated by the International Office of UINSSC, under the leadership of Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D., who currently serves as the Director. He oversaw the logistical planning and overall execution of the interview process. Under his supervision, the team ensured seamless coordination between the interview panels, candidates, and support staff. Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D. emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards despite the virtual setup. His leadership has been crucial in expanding UINSSC’s international outreach over the past years. He has also played a key role in strengthening partnerships with universities and institutions abroad.
The Global Engagement Team (GET), internship students at International Office (IO), also played a vital role in facilitating the process, guiding each session and ensuring the interviews ran smoothly across time zones. They handled all preliminary communications, including sending out schedules, conducting test calls, and providing technical guidance to participants. The team monitored each session to ensure punctuality and continuity. They acted as intermediaries between the candidates and the interview panels, offering assistance whenever needed. Technical issues were promptly resolved with minimal disruption. The GET also documented the proceedings for internal review and future reference. Their meticulous preparation contributed greatly to the professionalism and efficiency of the entire process.
The SN-GES program is a flagship scholarship initiative by UINSSC, offering full scholarships to academically outstanding and socially committed international students. Through this program, the university aims to foster a diverse and dynamic academic community, where global perspectives enrich local learning experiences. The selected scholars are expected not only to pursue their degrees but also to contribute actively to campus life and intercultural dialogue. It reflects UINSSC’s broader mission to integrate Islamic teachings with modern knowledge and global citizenship. The scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation, health insurance, and a monthly stipend. With the completion of the final interview, the university now moves toward announcing the official list of SN-GES 2025 recipients. The selection committee will conduct a final deliberation before releasing the results. The announcement will be made publicly via the university website and social media platforms.
