Cirebon, January 22, 2025UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon (UIN SSC), through its International Office and Partnership (IOP), held a transformative event titled "Global Mindset Mastery: Equipping UIN SSC Students with Intercultural Excellence", aiming to strengthen students' skills in intercultural communication amid global connectivity. Held on the fifth floor of the Cyber Building, the event brought together local and international students, university officials, and academics from five faculties, building on the 2024 MoU between UIN SSC and ICCCM. The program opened with remarks from IOP Director Dr. Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D., emphasizing the broader mission of equipping students for Indonesia’s future through intercultural understanding. This was followed by a keynote speech from Prof. Rudolf Wirawan of the University of Adelaide, who stressed the importance of embracing diversity and praised UIN SSC for fostering global competence. The training session, led by Mr. Ivan Chabibilah, S.S., M.Li. from ICCCM, used local languages and humor to teach principles of tolerance, adaptability, and conflict resolution through cultural understanding, encouraging students to recognize and reflect on personal biases.

The interactive format allowed participants to discuss real-world challenges, enhancing their insights into leadership, communication, and cultural sensitivity in a diverse world. Supported by faculty from Tarbiyah, Syariah, and Dakwah and Islamic Communication, the event underlined the university’s commitment to inclusive education across disciplines. As students from different cultural backgrounds exchanged perspectives, the event fostered a collaborative and inspiring atmosphere, culminating in a call for continued efforts to prepare globally competent graduates. Concluding with a heartfelt message of gratitude, the success of Global Mindset Mastery demonstrated UIN SSC’s dedication to producing open-minded, adaptive, and respectful leaders who are ready to engage meaningfully in an interconnected global society.

MoU with Wirasoft

Cirebon, January 21, 2025UIN SSC officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Wirasoft Foundation, marking a strategic step toward enhancing global collaboration and integrating environmentally friendly technology into education. The signing, attended by university leaders including Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. H. Hajam and Prof. Dr. H. Jamali, along with deans, institutional heads, and global partners such as ICCCM Malaysia and PT. Telkom Indonesia, signified UIN SSC’s commitment to academic excellence and international engagement. Representing Wirasoft Foundation was Professor Rudolf Wirawan, CEO and professor at the University of Adelaide. This collaboration aims to develop advanced digital learning platforms, promote joint research, and equip students and faculty with 21st-century skills through workshops, training, and certification programs. Emphasizing the use of technology for social development, the partnership also supports sustainable innovation in fields like education and healthcare. The initiative promises to build a forward-thinking academic ecosystem that connects students and experts globally through conferences, webinars, and collaborative projects. Furthermore, the MoU paves the way for broader international networking, opening opportunities for UIN SSC students and faculty to engage in global internships, research, and exchange programs. Collaborative Meeting

Cirebon, January 21, 2025UIN SSC’s International Office and Partnership (IOP) held an International Focus Group Discussion (IFGD) themed "Innovating for Social Impact: International Research Collaboration and Sunyaragi-Inspired Techno-Park Development in Cirebon City", led by IOP Director Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D., to strengthen global collaboration and link Cirebon’s cultural heritage with technological innovation. The event brought together notable figures including Professor Rudolf Wirawan from the Wirasoft Foundation and the University of Adelaide, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. H. Jamali, M.Ag. and Prof. Dr. H. Hajam, M.Ag., alongside academics from Telkom University and ICCCM Malaysia, such as Ivan Chabibilah, S.S., M.Li. Professor Wirawan introduced the visionary concept of Sunyaragi Techno-Park, inspired by the local wisdom of Sunyaragi Cave, envisioning it as a global hub where tradition meets technology, promoting sustainability, innovation, and intercultural collaboration. He stressed that cultural identity and technological progress can coexist, offering a model for global urban development rooted in local values. Contributions from other participants emphasized the importance of cross-sector cooperation and cultural sustainability in the age of globalization.

As moderator, Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D., emphasized that the fusion of heritage and innovation can lead to more inclusive, impactful urban development strategies, positioning Cirebon as a leader in culturally rooted technological growth. MoU with AsiaCall

Cirebon, February 5, 2025Siber Syekh Nurjati Islamic University Cirebon (UIN SSC) will host the 22nd AsiaCALL International Conference on November 14-16, 2025, with the theme “AI in Language Education: Opportunities, Challenges, and Future Directions.” This conference aims to explore the role of artificial intelligence in language education and its future development. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on February 5, 2025, marking a significant step in strengthening international cooperation between UIN SSC and AsiaCALL. The MoU emphasizes the commitment to supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in education and technology. The event, streamed live, highlights UIN SSC’s expansion of its academic reach globally and its dedication to digital innovation. Notable attendees included academics from AsiaCALL and UIN SSC, who expressed hopes for innovative solutions in language education, improved academic quality standards, and interdisciplinary research in the digital era. UIN SSC's collaboration with AsiaCALL underscores its position as a cyber-based university focused on creating an adaptive, innovative, and technology-driven academic environment.

International Workshop ft. Matthew S. Sussman

Sussman, an English language educator from the U.S., who introduced Flow Speak, an AI-powered speaking application designed to help students independently improve their English speaking skills while maintaining strong teacher involvement. The event was attended by university leaders and educators from various institutions, focusing on integrating technology into language teaching. Matthew explained that Flow Speak offers flexible practice, instant feedback, and a stress-free learning environment, emphasizing that AI is not a replacement for teachers but a tool to enhance classroom learning.

The workshop highlighted UIN SSC’s mission to bring international best practices to its academic community, fostering an inclusive and adaptive learning environment. Matthew emphasized that AI, when used wisely, can bridge the gap between conventional teaching limitations and the learning needs of today’s students. International Workshop ft. Lina Suhairy

The workshop, attended by key figures such as Vice Rectors and educators from UIN SSC and other local institutions, featured Ms. Lina Suhairy, an Indonesian diaspora based in Canada, who shared valuable insights on internship and job opportunities in Japan through the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program. She highlighted various opportunities, including the MBKM internship program offering real-world work experience, and post-graduate employment options in sectors like agriculture and caregiving. The workshop underscored UIN SSC's mission to prepare students for global careers while strengthening international collaboration.

Ms. Lina Suhairy emphasized the importance of academic preparedness for successful participation in these programs and advised younger students to engage in cultural programs to build early exposure. She also addressed the evolving status of foreign workers in Japan, highlighting better protections and fair wages for international employees. The event also featured comments from partners like Ivan Chabibilah from ICCCM, who praised the collaboration. The International Office plans to expand its global internship programs and integrate them into academic credit systems, along with launching faculty exchanges and joint research projects. Through these initiatives, UIN SSC aims to equip its students to compete in the international job market and contribute to Indonesia's development of globally competitive human resources.

Sussman (creator of Flow Speak), Ivan Chabibilah and Miss Lina from ICCCM, as well as faculty members and school representatives, the event emphasized UIN SSC’s transformation into a Cyber University with global partnerships spanning ASEAN, Australia, China, Japan, and Germany.
